  • Can I meet my carer before they start working with me or my loved one?
The relationship between you and your carer is very important as you will be spending a significant amount of time with your carer. In addition, this is someone you are inviting to your home and may be assisting you in some very personal ways. It can only be right for you to know a little bit about your carer to ensure there can be effective communication between you and the carer. Oaks healthcare upon request, will allow you to meet your carer and get to know each other prior to starting your care package (*please note that this may come at a small cost*). You also have the right to change your carer should you not get along for whatever reason by contacting our management team.
  • Is the care provision limited to me or my loved one’s home only?
Oaks healthcare provides services beyond your home. Our range of services includes escorts to shopping, hairdressers, medical appointments, leisure activities and more depending on your individual care requirements.
  • How do you ensure your services are personal to me or my loved one?
Once you make enquires with us, we will arrange for our care manager to meet you or your loved one to discuss your care requirements. This assessment will include discussions about your specific needs, your daily routine and interests. We will then create your personalised care plan which will be left in an agreed location in your home. We will ensure every carer that visits your home is familiar with your care needs and able to provide the personalised care you have requested.
  • What if a carer doesn’t show up?
Please contact our office immediately or our out of hours team on 07512201603.
  • How will you ensure me or my loved one's personal choices are respected?
Oaks Healthcare strictly follows individual care plans and do not impose our views or choices on service users. However, we might be obliged to implement safeguarding methods within the legal and regulatory framework to protect a service user from harm. Necessary action will be taken to protect and ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users.
  • What happens in the event of a public emergency such as a pandemic or natural disaster?
Oaks Healthcare understands the need to provide continuous support to service users in times of emergencies. We have emergency action plans to support all service users by connecting them via phone, email and all possible means of communication to establish their safety and wellbeing. Secondly, we establish if our service users have enough essential basic needs/supplies to see them through the difficulties. We also explain and advise on any changes needed in their care plan within that period. Service users will constantly be updated on any changes to their routine visits. All service users will be prioritised depending on their level of vulnerability and none will be left unattended.
  • How frequently will me or my loved ones care provision be reviewed?
Oaks healthcare believe that service users care plans needs to be reviewed on a regular basis. This can be due to improvements in a service users condition leaning towards a more independent life or a service user's condition getting worse. Oaks healthcare staff are trained to monitor these important changes in our service users and provide feedback to senior staff and managers. Senior staff and managers follow up on feedback and regularly visit service users to assess if any provisions need to be reviewed. Oaks healthcare also operates on a standard formal six monthly service users care plan review policy.
  • What sort of training does your staff receive?/ How do I know that your staff are trustworthy/reliable?
Oaks Healthcare ensures that all our employees are subject to a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. We also require two professional references including the most recent/last employer, regular supervision and support from care managers. We offer excellent inductions and care trainings, regular training updates, annual appraisals as well as having a 24 hour care manager on call to provide any additional support or guidance needed. In addition, we provide our staff with mandatory training such as food hygiene, health and safety, moving and manual handling.
  • Do I get to maintain the same carer/s?
Oaks Healthcare will do their outmost best to assign the same carer/s to service users for continuous care and to build good relationships with our service users. However, staff holidays and unforeseen circumstances may result in short term changes whereby other members of staff will cover shifts within this period.
